Clubmark
Clubmark was introduced in 2002 by Sport England as a means of identifying sports clubs and organisations who develop and follow best practice in implementing high quality programmes for young participants.
Tennis Clubmark is a tennis specific accreditation scheme requiring the same high standards to be met as for all other sports.
In addition to the LTA's recognition and endorsement of the club's current and future plans, there are a number of benefits for the club in achieving Clubmark status. For instance, only Clubmark accredited clubs will in future be eligible to receive LTA funding, including grants and loans. The accreditation will also help the club to develop partnerships locally with schools and school sports partnerships for whom there is an increasing requirement to work only with clubs holding the Tennis Clubmark.
Look out for the silver plaque on display in the clubhouse! We shall now use the Tennis Clubmark logo in all our publicity material and correspondence.
"The Clubmark award to Gravesham Tennis Club is a reflection of the outstanding progress the club has made in offering a quality experience to young people wishing to take up tennis with a view to gaining a lifelong involvement in playing the sport. The club's tennis coaching programmes, led by Head Coach Michel Suleau, offer opportunities for players of all standards to enjoy and develop their tennis skills, with opportunities to compete throughout the year. As a result, junior membership has risen substantially this year, with greatly increased interest on the part of schools in introducing their pupils to tennis at an early age."
