Gravesham Tennis Club's youngest ever champions

Match of the day was undoubtedly the boys 16 and under singles final between Sam Hadden and Alex Batchelor who, with Alex prevailing in two sets after some high quality play by both players, frequently matched the standards they set in their classic semi-final in the Gravesham Junior Open tournament only three weeks previously.

The boys 16, 14 and 12 and under finals were dominated by the Reader brothers, with 13 year Callum winning the 16 and 14 competitions and nine year old Kent LTA squad player Ewen taking the 12 and under title.

All these winners have also performed successfully in LTA junior tournaments this year. The club is proud of their achievements and wishes them continued success.

NEW! Gravesham TC Junior Open LTA Tournament attracts top players

Gravesham Tennis Club's annual LTA Junior Open Tournament attracted more visiting players from all over Kent and SE England than ever before. In the face of this challenge, the club's own players acquitted themselves with distinction. Congratulations go in particular to Charlotte Bonner who won the girls 18 and 16 and under titles and, with Liam Coombes, the mixed doubles competition; and to Dan Baker for winning the boys 18 and under title for the second successive year. Well done also to Kent County player Ewen Reader for winning the boys 10 and under title and to Sam Hadden and Mikey Suleau for becoming boys doubles champions. There were outstanding performances from these and several other representatives of our club including Alex Batchelor who won his boys 18 and under semi final by 6-7[4], 6-6, 7-6[4] aganist Sam Hadden in one of the finest singles matches seen at the club for many years. Their achievements bode well for the quality required to improve their individual LTA ratings and rankings and to support some of the club's high achieving doubles teams.
